Everything you need to know about the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI) grants for attic insulation – from eligibility and grant amounts to the application process and expert installation.
The SEAI insulation grant is part of Ireland’s Better Energy Homes Scheme and offers set financial support for homeowners improving their attic or roof insulation. The grant amount depends on the type of home, whether it’s an apartment, mid-terrace, semi-detached, or detached house. It’s designed to help reduce heating costs, improve energy efficiency, and make homes more comfortable all year round.
Not every home qualifies, so it’s important to understand eligibility criteria:
If you’re unsure whether your home qualifies, we’re happy to assess it for you as part of a free consultation.
Depending on the type of home you live in, you could receive between €800 and €1,500 in financial support toward your insulation upgrade. These grants are available for apartments, mid-terrace houses, semi-detached, and detached homes. By improving your attic insulation, not only do you lower your energy bills and boost comfort, you also benefit from significant cost savings thanks to these government-backed incentives.
Apartment (any*)
€800
Mid-Terrace
€1,200
Semi-Detached or end of terrace

*Only available for top-floor apartments or an apartment where the roof is a heat loss element, i.e. the heat escaping from the apartment’s roof is escaping to the outside. The SEAI roof insulation grant is not available for apartments with other apartments located directly above them (SEAI Website 🔗)
Applying for a grant may sound complicated, but we make it simple. Here’s how it works:
We’ll visit your home, inspect your roof or attic, and identify where heat is being lost. We will then issue a quote based on our survey.
You will fill out all the necessary information through SEAI’s portal. Make sure to choose us as your loft or attic insulation supplier – use contractor number 18315 (we are registered as Bearcon Industrial).
Once approved, our certified team installs your insulation to SEAI technical standards, ensuring proper ventilation and airtightness.
After everything is complete, SEAI releases the grant payment either to you or directly to us (depending on the chosen process).
Slash your heating costs by up to 50% with high-performance spray foam insulation that locks warmth in and keeps cold out.
Our insulation is made using a water-blown, eco-conscious formula - completely free from harmful CFCs or toxic chemicals.
Stay warm and cosy through winter, and cool and comfortable during summer, thanks to superior temperature control.
Use less energy to heat your home - reducing your carbon footprint and slashing utility bills at the same time.
Stop damp in its tracks. Our closed-cell insulation helps regulate moisture, preventing condensation, mould and mildew.
Enjoy peace and quiet. Spray foam significantly reduces outside noise, creating a calmer, more relaxing home environment.
Not always. Grants are fixed amounts, so while they significantly reduce costs, you may need to pay the difference.
Yes. Private landlords are eligible once the property meets the SEAI criteria.
Yes, if your existing insulation is below current standards, you may still qualify for a top-up.
The grant applies to the property, not the homeowner. If you sell, the insulation stays, and the new owner benefits from lower energy bills.
